About This Fundraiser
My dad, Dave Briggs, lost his battle with glioblastoma on January 22nd, 2025. Good deal, holy fright, pain in the hiney, bring it in kid, you girls need to get along, I'm proud of you, don't be a smart ass, love you babe - all are phrases that I heard my dad say countless times. I'll admit, some I appreciated more than others, but any of which I would give anything to hear him say again. My dad was larger than life. He was the kind of person who could do just about anything he set his mind to, "Tougher Than The Rest", like one of his favorite Chris LeDoux songs, a die hard Steelers fan, an outdoors man like no other. But more than anything, he was my biggest fan.
In a time when I needed an outlet, I turned to running. It was a challenge, certainly out of my comfort zone, and something I knew my Dad would have been impressed by. My first race was the 5k Your Way to benefit the Glioblastoma Research Organization. Since then, I have run other 5ks, a 10k, a half marathon, and just completed my first full marathon this past April.
This marathon is about more than 26.2 miles. It's about carrying my dad's legacy across the world. It's about showing that his story - and the fight against GBM - doesn't end here. My dad taught me to do hard things. He lived with courage, worked hard, and trusted God through every season of life.
I'll keep doing hard things in his honor because he no longer can.
