Retirement Party for Sean Wagner
Sunday, June 15, 2025
Sean came down with COVID in November of 2023. It was his first time having COVID and he had it violently. He never recovered. He went from COVID to life altering migraines that we assumed were long-term COVID. We tried very hard to get him in with neurologists immediately. We knew something was terribly wrong. We had trouble scheduling doctor appointments, I guess the kind of post-covid result of people waiting to get in to see a doctor, and now everyone was in the system. He went into ER and they sent him out with a basic migraine medication. No scan.
On February 9, 2024 he was in a car accident from which he was transported by ambulance. This led to doctors finally seeing what his problem was. His brain was by this time pushed way to one side of his head. A major midline shift that should have put him in a coma. But it had moved slowly, and he persisted. He had been working right up to the minute of his accident. But now, we knew, it was glioblastoma.
Sean, and I, have traveled and we continued to do so as soon as we could. We’ve visited Malibu, Philly, NYC, Turks and Caicos, Aruba and Bonaire since his diagnosis. Sean is a sailor and a diver, as well as an architect. His love for water, for books, and buildings continues. He has been studying Buddhism, incorporating Eastern medicine, and meditating, and has found great peace and calm in doing so.
